Another of the most unique attractions in Ladakh tourist places, Donkey Sanctuary is one of the only such sanctuaries in entire Asia. It is a vast expanse of land to witness the donkeys going on with their daily lives. Donkey Sanctuary is where you can see about 30 donkeys which are usually either pregnant or injured ones being kept and taken care of.
The place boasts of a very kind environmental initiative taken by Joanne Lefson who started this sanctuary to improve the living conditions of the donkeys in Ladakh. Donkey Sanctuary offers a wonderful getaway to be a part of something so generous when you are in Ladakh.
Highlights: Also called the ‘home for helpless donkeys’, this sanctuary is a wonderful initiative to take care of old and sick donkeys, asses and mules who have been deserted by their owners in Ladakh. One can visit here to witness the donkeys hanging out, making new friends, eat food and live peacefully in a safe shelter.
