Pang, Ladakh

  • Lying on the mesmerising Leh Manali highway, Pang is known for having the highest base camp for the army used generally during transits. It is one of the most useful halts on the way and located between Sarchu and Leh.

    Although it does not boast of many tourist places, it is its location that makes it one of the important places to visit in Ladakh. It offers basic tented accommodation and basic food is also available at most of the tea houses to keep the travellers refreshed on their way to Leh coming from Manali.  

    Highlights: Pang is best known for the world’s highest transit camp for the army as it is located at an altitude of 15,640 feet above sea level. It is used by the army as an important halt when moving as it lies in the area that borders Pakistan and China. 

    Best time to visit: The summer months from April to June are the best for visiting Pang when you are in a vacation in Ladakh.
